Why order records and lot documentation belong together
How references, lot records, inventory movements, and shipment events create a more auditable fulfilment process.

One reference through the workflow
A useful order reference connects the original request, payment verification, inventory review, fulfilment status, and support history. It reduces ambiguity when a customer asks about a shipment or requests documentation.
Inventory records are operational controls
Field Lab tracks catalogue inventory privately. Public visitors see availability, not exact stock counts. Internally, quantity on hand, reserved quantity, lot identifiers, expiration dates, and documentation links can be maintained without exposing operational data.
- Availability is checked again on the server when a request is submitted.
- A payment report is not treated as processor-confirmed payment.
- Administrative changes are restricted to authenticated admin accounts.
- Order events provide a chronological support record.
Documentation should follow the lot
When documentation is available, it should correspond to the lot being fulfilled. Customers can request available lot or COA records before or after submitting a catalogue request.
